L’Azienda Agricola si dispiega attorno a Villa I Raggi nella frazione Colmano di Predappio.
La villa si trova al centro di un bosco di querce secolari.
The Farm unfolds around Villa I Raggi in the village of Colmano, near Predappio.
This manor is located in the middle of an age-old oak tree forest.
Non si hanno notizie precise sulla data della sua costruzione. Sembra sia stata fatta costruire nel 1700 sopra un edificio piu’ antico, di cui si hanno tracce nella cantina: forse un’opera fortificata, o forse il castello stesso di Colmano. Nel 1800 la villa apparteneva al Conte Giuseppe Campi, uomo di vasta cultura e di molteplici interessi scientifici; era membro attivo dell’Accademia dei Georgofili in Firenze, dove aveva tenuto interessanti relazioni agrarie, ed era anche un appassionato studioso di fisica, avendo inventato un orologio astronomico realizzato dalle officine Galileo di Firenze. Avendo vasti possedimenti terrieri approfondì e perfezionò sia la viticoltura che la bachicoltura, realizzando una cantina moderna e una filanda per la seta in Dovadola.
Nel 1889, inviò i suoi prodotti all’Esposizione Universale di Parigi, in cui fu inaugurata la Torre Eiffel, ed il suo Sangiovese fu premiato.
Villa i Raggi è sede di memorie storiche:
nel 1849 ospitò Giuseppe Garibaldi che vi pernottò nel corso della trafila che lo accompagnò dall’Adriatico alla Toscana;
fu visitata anche dal Passatore, celebre bandito, al quale il Campi, nell’attesa del fattore che era andato a Dovadola a prelevare quanto richiesto dai briganti, si dice, riparò l’orologio.
La Villa con l’azienda circostante pervenne poi, a seguito di varie eredità, alla famiglia Zanetti Protonotari Campi, attuale proprietaria, che mantenne la tradizione viticola assieme all’attività della cantina.
No precise information about the date of its construction. It seems was built in the 18th century on a more ancient building, of which there are traces in the foundations, perhaps a fortified work, or the castle of Colmano itself.
In the 19th century Villa I Raggi belonged to the Count Giuseppe Campi, sir of great culture with many scientific interests. He was an active member of Georgofili Academy in Florence, where he gave interesting agrarian reports, and was also an avid student in physics, as he invented an astronomical clock, built by Galileo workshops in Florence. He deepened and perfected either viticulture or silkworm rearing, creating a modern winery and a silkworm mill in Dovadola, having vast landholdings.
Giuseppe Campi, in 1889, sent his products to the Universal Exhibition in Paris, when Eiffel Tower was inaugurated, and his Sangiovese wine was awarded. Villa I Raggi is also a home of historical memories:
in 1849 Giuseppe Garibaldi was hosted a night during his escape from Adriatic Sea to Tuscany, helped by “Trafila Dovadolese”.
il was also visited by Il Passatore, a famous bandit of Romagna of the 19th century, whose clock was fixed by Giuseppe Campi while the farmer was withdrawing the money required by the brigands in Dovadola.
Villa I Raggi and its surrounding farm came to Zanetti Protonotari Campi family, the current owner, after several legacies. This family is maintaining the viticultural tradition as well as the activities of the winery.
